About Jack
Jack Starkey-Gill is a Sydney-based voice, acting and presentation creative consultant. He comes from a background in acting, having achieved a Bachelor of Dramatic Art at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) in 2010. Since then, Jack has worked across multiple mediums and production companies as a professional performer, spanning the Bell Shakespeare stage to the Neighbours set. His work as an actor has provided him with an enthusiastic and incisive perspective on honest, resonant and powerful performance.
Alongside his VCA Bachelor degree, Jack holds a Master of Fine Arts (Voice) from the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) and lectured there for multiple years. He currently teaches at Actors Centre Australia (ACA) and multiple other acting institutions.
Outside of teaching in conservatoire environments, Jack is the Voice Director at Bell Shakespeare, and has worked as Associate Voice & Text Coach at Sydney Theatre Company (STC), Dialect Coach on the most recent Australian touring production of the Mary Poppins musical, and Voice & Presentation Coach for SBS Radio.
Jack is the Founder & Director of presence and public speaking consultancy JSG VOICE.
His classes and sessions focus on embodiment, playfulness and truthfulness through maintenance of vocal health, technical application of skills and the joy of performance. His methodology is shaped by the teachings of various voice pedagogues, and he is instinctively drawn to a teaching style that employs generosity, humour, physicality and text-focus.
Jack has also worked as a copywriter and content manager in the marketing industry, giving him insight into the necessity for muscular, precise and human-centric communication in corporate spaces.
